Privacy

Last updated November 4, 2026

Peak to Dust is a documentary podcast and video series. This site is built to respect your privacy: there are no accounts, no advertising, no tracking cookies and no selling of data.

What we measure

To understand which stories people enjoy, we run our own simple, cookie-free analytics on this site's server. For each visit it records: the pages you view, which site or search engine sent you here, which links and buttons you click, how long you stay and how far you scroll, your device type, browser, operating system, screen size, language and time zone, and your approximate location (country, region and city).

What we do not do

We do not set cookies for analytics and do not build profiles of individual people. Your IP address is used only momentarily to work out your approximate location and is then discarded; it is not stored with the analytics data. To count how many different people visit in a day, we derive an anonymous code from your connection details that changes every day and cannot be turned back into an IP address or linked across days.

How long we keep it

Analytics records are kept on our own server for up to 24 months and then deleted.

Story suggestions

If you suggest a story, we store the idea, the optional note and the optional name you type, and use them only to decide what to cover next. We do not store your IP address or any identifier with a suggestion, so please do not include personal details such as an email address or phone number. To limit spam we keep an anonymous, irreversible code for at most 24 hours to cap how many ideas one visitor can send. Suggestions are kept on our own server and deleted after 24 months.

Your choices

We honor the browser setting "Do Not Track" and the "Global Privacy Control" signal: if either is on, nothing is recorded.

Embedded players and links

Videos play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed and episodes through Spotify's embedded player. When you press play, those services may set their own cookies and collect their own data, under their own policies. Links to YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other platforms leave this site.

Location data

Approximate location is estimated with the free IP Geolocation by DB-IP.com database.
